CBS preps Korean drama remake

Ben Silverman and Howard Owens’ US indie Propagate Content has got an international drama deal away, putting an adaptation of hit Korean comedy drama My Lawyer, Mr. Jo into development at US net CBS.

The original show played on KBS in South Korea. It follows a lawyer wrongfully accused of corruption, who seeks to rebuild his reputation by defending others in the same predicament.

Castle showrunner Alexi Hawley will be showrunner on the US version, which will be called Exhibit A (WT).

Propagate and 3AD, Korean-American actor and Hawaii Five-O star Daniel Dae Kim’s prodco, are on production duty.

Propagte is ramping up, with another US network project expected to be announced soon.

It is already working on Amazon’s podcast-inspired drama Lore, as well as Apple’s original series Planet of the Apps among others.

Former NBC Entertainment chairman Silverman joined Propagate in April, in a deal that reunited him with company founder and former Reveille colleague Howard T. Owens, and coincided with A+E providing the prodco with an new round of funding.
