MIPCOM prepares to enter virtual reality
The organisers of MIPCOM are preparing a series of events focused on the fast-moving world of virtual reality.
Sony is backing the VR sessions, which run across the first three days of the market and will be held in the Palais.
There will be sessions dedicated to creativity in the VR space, production challenges, financing and business models, and another looking at who is commissioning VR content.
Speakers include James Milward, executive producer of Syfy’s VR project Halcyon, Discovery’s senior VP, development, Nathan Brown, and Sky VR Studios exec Neil Graham.
Arte’s Kay Meseberg, and Atlantic Productions boss Anthony Geffen will also speak.
There have been several VR developments in recent weeks, with UK pay TV operator Sky launching a VR app, and former Sky 3D boss John Cassy launching a new VR studio.
Research issued this week suggested revenues from VR hardware sales will increase ten-fold over the next five years.
