Glamorous NY move for Israeli prodco
The co-founder and CEO of Israeli’s Studio Glam has moved to New York City to open a new office that will aim to make formats for the US market.
Ami Glam (pictured) and his wife and business partner, Ilan Glam, opened the new branch, Studio Glam US, this month.
They claim this is the first time a “boutique” content and production company. Keshet International, a larger operation, already operates Keshet Studios in the US and had a joint venture with Dick Clark Productions.
Studio Glam’s Israeli base will remain open, and focus on “small- or medium-sized productions”. A manager has been appointed as Ami and Ilan Glam focus on developing Studio Glam US.
The move comes after the opening last October of Studio Glam ID (International Development), which aims to co-develop formats for the global market with broadcasters, prodcos and distributors, and share the resulting rights.
Ami Glam established his production company three years ago after a five-year spell at Keshet, the Israeli broadcaster, where he developed the local version of MasterChef and created various other shows.
Studio Glam now produces Bake Off Israel for Channel 2, and created The Extra Mile for Channel 10, which has been sold internationally. The firm has 20 new formats in various stages of development, including The Selfie Challenge, which is set to broadcast in Spain.
