Reelz uncovers Hollywood Homicide
Reelz has ordered a new true-crime series, Hollywood Homicide Uncovered.
The show will be produced by Canada-based producer and distributor Breakthrough Entertainment for the US cable net.
It profiles horrific crimes involving Hollywood celebrities, examining the evidence, interviewing experts, and using drama reconstructions to show viewers key events.
Cases covered will include Phil Spector, Tupac Shakur, and Robert Blake. The show comes out of Breakthrough’s US alternative content division.
Steve Cheskin, senior VP of programming at Reelz said: “We know this series will show our viewers emotionally charged and engaging, real stories about celebrities and Hollywood.”
The new series was announced as part of the cable net’s fall schedule announcement.
Other new offerings include Rich and Acquitted, looking at crime cases involving stars who were acquitted.
There will also be three doc specials. Titanic: Sinking the Myths will examine myths surrounding the ill-fated ship. it comes from US prodco Katco Media.
Karen Carpenter: Goodbye to Love hails from ITV Studios prodco Potato and will look at the short life of the famous singer. it was originally ordered by Viacom’s Channel 5 in the UK.
The third special, Reagan: From Movie Star to President, from AMS Pictures, is based on the book Reagan: The Life by New York Times by H.W. Brands.
