MIPCOM security upped after Nice attack
MIPCOM organiser Reed MIDEM will tighten security at the industry confab in October in light of the mass murder in Nice earlier this month.
France was on alert after a series of atrocities conducted by so-called Islamic State supporters, before last week a man drove a 19-tonne lorry through a busy Bastille Day parade on the Promenade des Anglais, killing 84 people in the process and injuring dozens more.
I hear @mip organiser Reed Midem will – unsurprisingly – beef up security for #MIPCOM in October in light of the tragedy of the #NiceAttack.

With Nice the closet major city to MIPCOM home Cannes, Reed MIDEM has moved to bolster security, though details have not yet been revealed.
“For the moment, our thoughts go out to the victims and their families following these tragic events,” a spokesman said in a statement issued on Monday. “In the meantime, we are working to reinforce our security measures. We will communicate more information later as we get closer to the market.”
