France TV delves into science, history with ZDF

France Télévisions has acquired a package of docs from ZDF Enterprises, the commercial arm of German pubcaster ZDF.

The French pubcaster has bought ancient history show Apocalypse Neanderthal and climate doc How Climate Made History.

Both factual projects are two parters and produced by Berlin and Washington-based Story House Productions.

France Télévisions has also taken three-part series The Ascent of Civilisation, about ancient cultures. It was made for ZDF by Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion.

On the history front, the broadcaster has taken WWII two parter The Invasion: The Outbreak of World War II. The latter was made by ZDF and Poland’s TVP, and looks at the origins and early days of the war.
