Mediapro hires Homeland exec Ran Tellem
Mediapro has hired long time Keshet programming executive Ran Tellem as the Spanish production and distribution group seeks to bolster its content division.
Tellem, who was vice president for programming and content at Israeli broadcaster Keshet before leaving last year, will work with Mediapro’s various prodcos and its international sales arm, Imagina.
The programming exec counts Prisoners of War and its US version, Homeland, among his credits.
In unscripted he worked on shows including Rising Star and Boom! while at Keshet.
“It is a great pleasure for me to happily announce I have a new home,” he said today. “Mediapro has worldwide reach, great people, ideas and passion and seemed like the right step.
“Together we’d like to open a door to creators around the world, with the most innovative, human, emotional, ideas. I would like to thank Mediapro Group for giving an Israeli TV person a shot at a worldwide [role].”
Javier Méndez, head of content at Mediapro Group, added: “We are sure [Ran’s] vast experience will allow us to produce series, programmes and formats which will make Mediapro a key player in [international] content production.”
Mediapro’s current TV slate includes big-budget Sky series The Young Pope, alongside Haut et Court and Wildside.
Earlier this month the Barcelona-based company, which runs the la Sexta channel, said it had secured a new €306 million (US$351.7 million) line of credit.
