ITV buys into drama indie
The international content arm of UK broadcaster ITV has bought into Route 24, the new UK-based indie founded by film producer Marc Samuelson.
ITV Studios Global Entertainment has taken a minority stake in the firm that Samuelson created with Robert Cheek and Josie Law.
Best-known for his film work, which includes Wilde and Stormbreaker, Samuelson was also a producer on BBC thriller The Shadow Line.
The new indie said it has several shows in development. It has a deal with the estate of John Wyndham, and plans to work up projects based on the author’s work.
Ruth Clarke, executive VP, global content strategy & investment, ITVS GE said: “Marc has an exciting and really clear vision for Route 24 that takes advantage of his decades in the film industry and the enviable experience and contacts that brings.
“The global demand for high-end drama continues and we’re thrilled Marc and his team have chosen to partner with ITVS GE to make the most of the opportunities around the world.”
Samuelson said: “ITVS GE is a really exciting company to work with – its global ambition, creative instincts and collaborative ethos make it our ideal partner as we work to establish a terrific new drama indie.”
