Mediacorp names former CEO chairman
Singaporean media giant Mediacorp has lined up former CEO Ernest Wong as its new chairman.
Wong (left) was CEO of the company between 2000 and 2005 and a non-exec director between 1994 and 2000.
He will be confirmed as chairman at Mediacorp’s AGM in July, and will replace Teo Ming Kian.
The outgoing chairman (right), who has been in the role for six years, said: “[Wong’s] past experience as CEO and director of the company – especially in driving crucial decisions during some challenging years – places him well to guide the management in navigating an increasingly complex media landscape.
“I am sure that Mediacorp will continue to thrive under Ernest’s stewardship.”
Wong is, by trade, a banker having worked for a range of banks and financial businesses.
“While the media landscape has changed dramatically since I helmed the company as its group CEO, what remains constant is the commitment of the Mediacorp team to excellence and active engagement with audiences and the community,” he said.
