How the Rich Live Longer prospers
Channel 4’s How the Rich Live Longer has been picked up by a raft of international broadcasters.
The one-off doc is distributed by independent distributor Orange Smarty, which has sold it into over 50 territories.
International buyers of the show include TV3 in New Zealand, DR in Denmark, TVB in Hong Kong and Discovery Networks Norway.
The show follows Dr Christian Jessen, best-known as one of the hosts of Channel 4 series Embarrassing Bodies, as he investigates the health industry and how it is geared to keeping the wealthy fit and healthy.
It was made by ITN Productions, whose head of international programming Ian Russell said: “As populations live longer the market for keeping the richer half in peak condition has exploded.
“Dr Christian Jessen investigates the weird and wonderful treatments available to those who want to stay young at any cost.”
ITN recently unveiled a restructure that will see it focusing more heavily on productions for the international markets, with a new unit focusing on US trade.
