MCN 2btube poaches HBO exec

Hugo Tapia has joined MCN 2btube as its Mexican country manager. He joins from HBO Latin America where he was the Miami-based senior business development director across areas including VOD and programme sales.

Hugo TapiaSpain-based 2btube, which provides a platform for Spanish-language digital content, hosted on YouTube, opened a Mexico office last year.

The business is run by former A+E digital boss Fabienne Fourquet, who is CEO. She said: “Thanks to Hugo’s extensive experience in digital media, 2btube will position itself as the best partner not only for traditional media companies but also with brands who are looking to engage with younger audiences.”

Tapia will oversee the production of original content and commercialisation of 2btube’s existing programming.

“Now that we are the established leaders in Spain, it’s the perfect time to strengthen our position in Latin America and to become, with Hugo’s leadership, the largest digital talent network in Mexico.” Added 2btube cofounder Bastian Manintveld.
