ABC creates Quantico VR experience

Scripted-logo-460_2QuanticoUS broadcast network ABC has launched its first scripted VR experience.

This tied in with the midseason premiere of freshman drama Quantico, which stars Priyanka Chopra as a trainee US government agent who’s accused of masterminding a terrorist attack on New York City.

The VR experience, created in partnership with car firm Lexus, launched yesterday (Sunday, March 6) along with the TV episode. It allows users to assume the role of a new ‘recruit’ working alongside two FBI trainees to track down a target.

Easter egg bonus material relating to the show can also be accessed while scanning the footage.

ABC has created a website, QuanticoVR.com, for the experience, which can also be accessed on desktops and the Littlestar app for headsets, mobiles and Apple TV.

“Working in virtual reality opens up so many possibilities and ways to engage fans beyond what can be accomplished on a flat screen,” said Jeffrey Weinstock, vice president and creative director, ABC Integrated Marketing.

“We’re literally inviting fans to be a character in the show, immersing them in this world and allowing them to explore and discover parts of the story on their own.”

Quantico comes from ABC Studios and is sold internationally by Disney Media Distribution. It is going out in the UK on UKTV, ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany and AXN in Portugal.
