SVT, Viaplay co-order restaurant drama
Swedish broadcaster SVT and its commercial on-demand rival Viaplay have co-commissioned a period drama set in a restaurant set at the end of World War II.
Beginning at the end of World War II in Europe on May 7, 1945, Vår Tid är Nu (Our Time is Now) will run to 20 parts and launch in late 2017.
It is set in a Gothenburg family-run restaurant, following the ambitions of the family’s children following the end of conflict through several decades.
Ulf Kvensler is the writer, with Johan Rosalind the concept creator.
SVT and Viaplay, which is the Swedish on-demand service of Modern Times Group, is coproducing the series with Film Väst, Susann Billberg and Banijay Group-owned prodco Jarowskij. Göran Danasten is leading the project for SVT.
