Berlin: Sony to pepper buyers with Salt pitch
Sony Pictures Television is planning to take action spy thriller Salt to television.
Diego Suarez, senior VP of international television production at SPT parent Sony Pictures Entertainment revealed he was pitching a TV adaptation of the 2010 Phillip Noyce movie to potential partners at the European Film Market, which is being held here in Berlin at the German capital’s film festival.
“We’re developing Salt, which was a Columbia [Pictures] title,” he told delegates during a panel session at the EFM’s Drama Series Days event. “We’re bringing it to Europe in a completely different way.”
The original film followed Angelina Jolie as a mysterious international sleeper agent caught up in a global situation that could destablise the world.
Sony international TV production president Sanford Panitch hired Suarez, a former colleague, last year to bolster Sony’s efforts with cable shows with a global edge.
Suarez is credited with adapting La Reina del Sur as The Queen of the South for USA Network.
