Bavaria poaches Tandem exec for int’l push
Bavaria Fernsehproduktion has poached Moritz Polter from Tandem, and the new recruit will lead an international expansion effort at the German producer.
Bavaria Fernsehproduktion is a subsidiary of Bavaria Film and ZDF Enterprises, and one of Germany’s most longstanding and largest production groups.
Moritz takes the newly-created role of executive producer, international television series, at Bavaria Fernsehproduktion.
He will pick up and develop new TV projects, put the financing together and place them with broadcasters.
“International productions, especially in the series area, are a growth market. I am therefore very happy that we were able to sign Moritz Polter as executive producer,” said Jan Kaiser, managing director, Bavaria Fernsehproduktion.
He added: “He has broad experience, a wide range of contacts and has produced exciting shows. With him on board, we will develop and grow this new business venture for years to come.”
Polter was a producer and VP, production at Tandem in an eight-year stint, working in its flagship miniseries The Pillars of the Earth, procedural Crossing Lines and more recent effort Spotless.
“The opportunity to build something new in an internationally renowned company is very compelling,” said Polter. “The timing is perfect – the interest for international series and coproductions thrives.
“At Bavaria, there is a sense of renewal as the television market changes rapidly. We want to utilise this potential to inspire viewers, together with new coproduction partners.”
