ITV order for Sony’s Electric Ray
UK broadcaster ITV has ordered The Inspectors are Coming, a new ob-doc series from Sony-backed prodco Electric Ray.
The series will follow council enforcement teams in the UK as they tackle bad behaviour from neighbourly disputes to dog mess in public spaces.
The council officers have the power to impose on-the-spot fines meaning they often end up in conflict with the people they are reprimanding.
Electric Ray founder Karl Warner said: “We hope ITV audiences will take to this likeable group of passionate and professional law enforcement officers, regardless of whether they agree or not with the powers they’ve been given to fine.”
Andrew O’Connell, factual commissioning editor and Richard Klein, director of factual at ITV ordered the show.
O’Connell said: “Whether you see the crews of council officers that enforce a whole range of laws affecting our communities as heroes or villains, this new series will give you a colourful insight into the characters and culture behind the high-vis uniforms.”
Sony Pictures Television will distribute the show internationally.
