Format deal for Discovery’s Wheeler Dealers
Wheeler Dealers is getting a French remake after DTT channel RMC Découverte ordered a local version of the car repair and sale format.
In the show a pair of car enthusiasts renovate and then sell vehicles. Produced by Atta Boy TV, it has run on Discovery in the UK and around the world for twelve seasons, and spawned a spin-off, Wheeler Dealers Trading Up.
French indie Pernel Media will make the RMC version of the show, which will run to 10x60mins.
Pernel has a strong track record of adapting UK-originated formats for the French market having already taken The Undateables, Great British Menu and Dinner Date across the Channel.
In the motoring/entertainment category, the prodco has also adapted the Cash Cab format for France and made branded content for Renault.
“There is an appetite for a new wave of car entertainment programming in France and we think audiences will love Wheeler Dealers,” said Samuel Kissous, president of Pernel.
