Former BBC exec teams with Keo for indie

Former BBC executive Sally Angel has created Field Day, a new UK independent producer, and gone into partnership with longstanding indie prodco Keo Films.

Field Day will be part of Keo under the terms of a joint venture and will make factual and factual entertainment programming.

Angel (pictured) is a seasoned producer and recently made WW2 feature doc Night will Fall for HBO and Channel 4. Her other credits include BBC series One Foot in the Past, House Detectives and TV Heroes.

She has held a number of senior management posts at the BBC, including commercial channels manager for BBC Production, channel development executive for BBC Broadcast and commissioning editor for BBC Choice.

Keo boss Debbie Manners said: “We are thrilled to have Sally on board in this exciting new joint venture. Her experience and knowledge of arts and history programming is complementary to our current portfolio and will be invaluable as we develop the company further. This marks a very positive step change in our business.”

Angel added: “I am delighted to join Keo. I greatly admire their output and ethos and believe Field Day fits very well under their banner. I look forward to working with the team to develop new and exciting programming.”

The new shows from Field Day will sit alongside Keo’s own offerings, which include the River Cottage series.

Field Day said it will make staff announcements shortly.
