FremantleMedia buys Israeli prodco
FremantleMedia has continued its spending spree by acquiring a majority stake in Israeli formats producer Abot Hameiri.
FremantleMedia has moved to buy 51% of the firm for an undisclosed amount, which means it will sell Hameiri’s programming internationally going forwards.
Hameiri co-founders Eitan and Guy Hameiri established their company in 2006, and have gone on produce shows such as the local version of FremantleMedia/Syco Entertainment talent format The X Factor.
This comes after investments in Man Alive, Corona Pictures, Full Fat TV and Naked Entertainment in the UK, No Pictures Please in the Netherlands, Fontaram and Kwai in France, and Wildside in Italy.
The firm tried to buy All3Media in 2014 but ultimately did not, and has since been overtaken as the second-largest UK-based largest distributor by the merged Endemol Shine Group.
