New Asian deal for Xilam’s Oggy
Cartoon Network has acquired the new season of slapstick toon series Oggy and the Cockroaches for its Asia-Pac channels.
The fifth 78x7mins season will hit the Turner-owned channels in 2017.
The popular series is produced and distributed by France-based Xilam, which teamed with Cartoon Network to coproduce season four of Oggy.
“Over the past few years, Cartoon Network has become known as the ‘home of new Oggy’ and with season five now secured, I’m happy to announce that this is set to continue for a long time to come,” said Mark Eyers, chief content officer for Turner’s kids networks in Asia Pacific.
Xilam founder Marc du Pontavice said: “We are thrilled to announce that Cartoon Network is committed to being the show’s broadcaster of this brand new season in Asia Pacific.”
Earlier this year, TBI reported Viacom International Media Networks’ Nickelodeon India had snatched rights to Oggy back from Cartoon Network in that territory after three years on the Turner network.
