Zed takes on Mona Lisa catalogue
France-based distributor Zed has inked a distribution deal with French indie producer Mona Lisa.
Under the terms of the agreement indie sales house Zed will sell a catalogue of recent Mona Lisa titles totaling about 80 hours. Titles include one-off doc Urine Superpowers, four-parter Life in Hell and two-part wildlife doc Aliens of the Amazon.
Zed is bulking up and the deal comes soon after it secured European distribution rights to several docs and factual films from the Kino Lorber catalogue. Titles included recent docs such as Seeds of Time and restored classics such as Fritz Lang’s 1931 film The Birth of a Nation.
Speaking about the Mona Lisa deal, Zed president Manuel Catteau said: “The outstanding quality of Mona Lisa’s catalog means our sales force will be able to meet our clients’ growing demand for high-end documentaries, especially in the scientific field.”
Thierry Berrod, president of Mona Lisa, added: “Our aim is to maximise our revenues on programmes which have proved themselves with major international broadcasters, but which must be made profitable across all media windows, and in all territories.”
