Gaumont strikes deal with Ivernel’s Montebello

French indie Gaumont has inked a first-look TV and film deal with Montebello Productions, the prodco run by former Pathé boss Francois Ivernel.

The three-year deal covers TV and movie production, and will see the pair work together on projects and Gaumont distributing.

Ivernel’s film credits include Girl with a Pearl Earring and Slumdog Millionnaire.

“Gaumont combines stability and dynamism,” he said. “They are hugely successful in the production and distribution of French films and international TV series. Their ambition to expand further in English speaking film and high-end European TV series makes them the perfect partner for Montebello.”

Prior to forming Montebello François Ivernel was running Les Cinemas Gaumont Pathé and turned Pathé UK into one of the leading film production and distribution companies in Europe.

Sidonie Dumas, CEO of Gaumont, said: “We are thrilled about this new agreement with François Ivernel. His company has many very promising ideas for series and movies.”
