Sony nabs Fox exec to build int’l production
Sony Pictures Entertainment has a new senior VP, international television production after the hire of Fox21 executive Diego Suarez.
This is the first TV hire Sony Pictures Entertainment’s president of international film and television, Sanford Panitch, has made since leaving Fox to take the post back in April.
Suarez worked with Panitch at Fox, and was most recently senior VP, creative affairs at prodco Fox21, focusing on cable shows with an international edge. He was behind the American remake of La Reina del Sur, which is in production for USA Network as The Queen of the South.
Suarez has also worked for Fox International Channels Italy; Spanish production company Boca Boca Productions; and Cuatrocabezas, the Spanish-language prodco now part of Warner Bros. International Television Production after Warner Bros.’s acquisition of Eyeworks.
“Diego Suarez is for me the definition of the modern international television executive with his wide-ranging experience at both the studio level and in the international channel business,” said Panitch.
“We see tremendous opportunity in producing both international and local language television content, and we are thrilled to have Diego join the team.”
Panitch has also hired feature film producer to become VP, international film production.
