Fox gets into UK free TV
Fox International Channels is getting into UK free TV for the first time with the launch of female-skewed Your TV.
FIC UK currently operates pay channels Fox, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD and Baby TV, but moves into the free-to-air space on Thursday, October 1 at 1pm.
Your TV will focus on “sensational real-life stories, irresistible experiences and thrilling tales”, broadcasting 20 hours a day from 7am to 3am.
The network will give UK premieres to shows such as criminal investigation series Corrupt Crimes; upcoming US legal drama Shark, which stars James Wood as hot-shot lawyer who leaves a career of defending criminals to join public prosecution; BBC wedding show Don’t Tell the Bride; and healthy cookery series Baking Good Baking Bad.
Further programming announcements will follow in coming weeks, FIC UK said in a press release.
The move is one of the biggest FIC UK managing director Jeff Ford has made since taking on the post at the 21st Century Fox channels group earlier this year.
“Providing a daily treat of compelling scripted and unscripted series for viewers, YourTV is a fresh new destination for entertainment,” said Ford, the former TV3 and Channel 5 programming chief.
