BBC Earth makes Fishing Impossible
BBC Worldwide has unveiled new commissions for its BBC Earth channel, one of which follows maverick fishing specials chasing ‘uncatchable’ sea life.
Fishing Impossible and What Planet Are You On? (WT) will joint eh previously-announced Extreme Weather: The Survivors, which was BBC Earth’s debut commission.
Fishing Impossible is a 10-part coproduction with UK broadcaster ITV, in a commissioning structure similar to Extreme Weather, which is a coproduction with Channel 5.
The show sees fishermen attempt to catch fish that are considered impossible to catch due to their elusiveness or the roughness of the seas they live in.
What Planet Are You On?, from BBC Earth Productions, uses archive footage to retell blue-chip natural history stories.
BBCWW, the BBC’s commercial arm, has been rolling BBC Earth out over the past year, recently revealing it would launch in Latin America, Asia and South Africa in the coming months.
The channel will also premiere in Latin America and South Africa this September, and has already gone live across the Nordic region, Poland, Turkey, Romania, Hungary and Slovenia.
