Sony networks boss named NATPE chairman
Sony Pictures Television’s president, worldwide networks Andy Kaplan (pictured) has been named chairman of events organiser NATPE.
He succeeds Jordan Levin, the former Xbox Entertainment and WB channel executive, who had held the post for four years.
His appointment follows that of COO and president J.P. Rommel, who is in part replacing CEO Rod Perth, who is retiring next year.
Kaplan oversees SPT’s international channels business, which comprises cable and satellite channels such as AXN and Sony Entertainment Television, on-demand and subscription on-demand platforms, including Crackle, and various other assets.
“Andy’s extensive knowledge of the domestic and international TV and burgeoning VOD and subscription VOD markets, as well as the multiplatform online entertainment network space, will provide NATPE with an enormously valuable perspective as we further expand our global reach,” said Perth.
“His vast expertise in Latin America, Asia and India further strengthens our relationships with content creators from those important regions.”
“With Rod’s dedication to enhancing content creation and distribution across the entire television and digital ecosystem at our annual global markets and conferences, NATPE is well positioned for the future,” said Kaplan. “I also deeply appreciate the commitment Jordan has made to NATPE and am delighted he will remain a member of our executive committee.”
