Rutherford exits Tricon

Jon Rutherford is to leave Canada-based Tricon Films & Television, triggering a restructure that that sees Karthiga Ratnasabapathy promoted.

Rutherford (pictured) has been with Tricon since April 2010, and has since risen to the rank of executive VP, distribution and business development.

There was no word on the former Portfolio Entertainment executive’s next move after he leaves at the end of the week.

Ratnasabapathy, meanwhile, is promoted to VP, worldwide sales and acquisitions.

She joined Tricon from Entertainment One in 2013 to build the firm’s digital distribution strategy, and will now focus on distribution and rights business expansion.

“Karthiga’s achievements in the ever changing landscape of international and domestic distribution have made her a perfect candidate for this position,” says Andrea Gorfolova, president of Tricon.
