NATPE recruits ex-Reed Midem exec
NATPE has hired J.P. Bommel as managing director and COO.
Bommel (pictured) is a former business development exec at MIPCOM owner Reed MIDEM and will join NATPE, the US producers association and trade convention organiser, next month.
NATPE president and CEO Rod Perth (pictured) is stepping down early next year and will work with Bommel through to his departure in February 2016.
Bommel’s is a new role, but he is effectively taking the reins from Perth, who will remain on the board.
Bommel was at Reed MIDEM for eight years to June 2013. He then set up his own events consultancy, Barton Creek, working with NATPE as well as events including SXSW and the Cannes Lions.
Speaking about Bommel’s hire, Perth said: “I am very pleased that after interviewing many candidates, the board and I have selected J.P. to fill this newly-created position. J.P. and I will be working closely together so that he is able to learn every aspect of our association.
“J.P. has already served in a consultancy capacity with our organisation, so that experience provides a head start on the learning curve.”
