JTBC operates a cable pay TV service in Korea, which will carry the joint venture channel, JTBC3 Fox Sports.
It will be programmed with international and local sport. The international fare will include coverage of the German Bundesliga football league, Formula One and the Wimbledon and French Open tennis championships.
FIC said the roll out of the new channel will herald a ‘new era in sports broadcasting in South Korea’, and is part of its wider plans to localise its offering in Asia.
Zubin Gandevia (pictured), FIC Asia Pacific president said: “Expanding the FOX Sports brand here is a key step in our continuous efforts to build out our sports business across Asia. The launch of JTBC3 FOX Sports completes our sports brand’s APAC footprint.”
Sugil Kim, president/CEO, JTBC added: “With JTBC’s capability and know-how and FIC’s powerful content, together we will bring to this new venture a unique synergy.”
