Former Turner kids exec joins DHX
Canada-based DHX Media has appointed former Turner Broadcasting System children’s TV executive Richard Rowe as director of international acquisitions and coproductions.
Rowe left Turner’s EMEA business, where he had worked for 12 years, most recently as director of acquisitions and original series, last February. He began consulting with DHX soon after, as TBI first reported in February last year, and also provided wider services to other clients.
Rowe has joined DHX in the full-time post having launched Rowe Media after leaving the Time Warner-owned broadcast and content group.
His new role will see him sourcing original content for coproduction and programming for Josh Scherba’s distribution team.
“We welcome Richard to the DHX team and look forward to benefiting from his talents and experience,” said Scherba, senior VP, distribution for DHX.
“His far-reaching role will be a considerable asset to us as we look to consolidate international relationships and secure the best new content for our business.”
“I have spent a significant amount of time working with DHX in various roles, both at Turner and more recently at Rowe Media,” added Rowe. “I have found it to be a company full of great people and doing great things, and I can’t wait to get started in a permanent capacity”.
Last week, Nasdaq-listed DHX went back on an offer a number of variable voting shares in a public offering after claiming market conditions did not favour the plan.
