SES launching 4K channel
HD+, a subsidiary of satellite services operator SES, will launch a channel to demonstrate the 4K ultra high definition programming in September.
German satellite platform HD+ said the new service will showcase 4K programming with a mix of sports, culture, lifestyle and nature content.
It added that content and industry partners that want to test their 4K content in a real-world setting can work with it on the channel.
“With more Ultra HD content being produced, it’s a matter of time before Ultra HD channels are offered in the market,” said Georges Agnes, managing director of product development at HD+.
He added: “In September, the new HD+ Ultra HD demo channel will broadcast content of our professional partners and also provide producers with the opportunity to broadcast their user-generated content on linear TV.”
