Cartoon Network creates Imagination Studios
Children’s broadcaster Cartoon Network is due to launch a new online site where kids can create their own cartoon characters and animations.
Cartoon Network Imagination Studios will launch across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the coming months and is designed to “inspire and celebrate the imagination and creativity of kids.”
Visitors will be able to create their own cartoons, with the Imagination Studios site offering activities including drawing, colouring, storyboarding, music, special effects, voiceovers, movement and animation.
Select countries across the EMEA region will offer children aged six to 12 the chance to enter their original creations to Cartoon Network Imagination Studios Awards for the chance of seeing them brought to life on-air.
Cartoon Network said the site will give kids an “insight into the making of their favourite cartoons” by also showing them behind the scenes at the channel’s real studios.
“We often receive fan art and story ideas inspired by our shows, so we wanted to create a destination to encourage and facilitate all the amazing creativity stored in the minds of our young audiences,” said Patricia Hidalgo, senior vice-president and chief content and creative officer, kids, Turner Broadcasting System EMEA.
In the UK, Cartoon Network Imagination Studios will launch in early July, with kids able to submit their own character drawings, storyboards or animations – via the Cartoon Network Imagination Studios Awards – from September 1.
