Showtime OTT service lands on Roku, PlayStation
Showtime, the new standalone streaming service from the US cable channel, will be available via Roku devices and on Sony’s cloud TV service PlayStation Vue.
The CBS-owned broadcaster confirmed that the two new partners had come on board in time for the Showtime over-the-top service launch in early July, joining previously announced partner Apple.
The US$10.99 per month streaming service will now be available on Roku streaming players and Roku TV sets, the PlayStation Vue service, Apple iOS devices and the Apple TV streaming box, and online at Showtime.com.
Commenting on the new partnerships, Showtime Networks CEO Matthew Blank said that the Roku and Sony platforms “have distinct and loyal audiences and together they will build on our service and greatly expand the number of homes that will have access to the Showtime service over the internet”.
“This is fundamental to Showtime’s strategy of putting the choice in the hands of the consumers regarding how, when and on what unique devices they watch our programming.”
