Fox’s Empire to hit Viaplay
Fox’s hit drama Empire will launch on MTG’s streaming service Viaplay later this year.
The drama has been a big hit for broadcast net Fox in the US.
Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution sells the series, which has already been picked up by a raft of buyers including ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany, Channel 4 in the UK and Hulu in the US.
The Lee Daniels-produced 12x60mins show follows the CEO of a hip-hop dynasty, who has to decide which of his children should succeed him after being diagnosed with a debilitating illness while dealing with his recently-paroled ex-wife.
Viaplay has snagged exclusive streaming rights and will launch episodes weekly, on Fridays, starting June 12.
The streaming service is available in the Nordic region and is available via connected TVs and devices.
