Canadian SVOD preps for Catastrophe
Canadian SVOD service Shomi has acquired UK-produced comedy Catastrophe.
The series, which has previously picked up by Amazon for its Prime Instant Video service streaming service, follows an American man and British woman who become parents after a one-night stand.
It went out on Channel 4 in the UK and the free-to-air broadcaster has ordered a second season.
UK comedy prodco Avalon produces alongside Merman Films, the UK prodco co-owned by Sharon Horgan, the female lead in the show (pictured).
Shomi has snagged exclusive Canadian SVOD rights.
