Reality star becomes Dengineer for CBBC
UK kids channel CBBC has commissioned The Dengineers, a new live-action makeover show in which kids get their dream dens made for them
Mark Wright, who came to prominence in the UK as one of the stars of scripted reality series The Only Way is Essex, will present the show, which CBBC will produce in-house.
Wright and co-presenter (and CBBC vlogger) Lauren Layfield will work with expert designers and builders and the kids themselves as they set out to build their dream den. Ten kids will be selected and attics, cellars and bedrooms will get the makeover treatment.
The show will be filmed over the summer and debut on CBBC later this year. BBC Worldwide will sell the finished version and the format.
The Dengineers was commissioned by Cheryl Taylor, controller of CBBC, who said: “Children have always loved the notion of their own bespoke hideaway – and Dengineers promises to deliver dream dens on a scale of epic proportions. We’ll see eye-popping designs and ambitious makes, and our newly formed presenting duo should mean everyone will be talking about The Dengineers.”
