FremantleMedia explores The Seventies
FremantleMedia International has acquired worldwide rights to CNN Original documentary series The Seventies.
The deal covers all territories outside the US, and means the Tom Hanks-produced 8x60mins show now sits alongside The Sixties in the FMI catalogue.
The Sixties sold to 43 territories worldwide, including DR in Denmark, NTV in Germany and SBS in Australia.
The Seventies follows the events that defined the eponymous decade in the US, including the loss of the Vietnam War, a pair of energy crises and various cultural developments. It mixed archive footage with interviews with journalists, historians, musicians and television personalities that witnesses the historic moments.
CNN coproduced the series with Mark Herzog’s Herzog & Company and Playtone, which actor Hanks and Gary Goetzman run together.
FMI is launching the series at MIPTV along with This is Life with Lisa Ling, which also comes from CNN. The 8x60mins comes from Part2 Pictures Production.
