ABC Family orders supernatural Tim Kring pilot
Heroes creator Tim Kring is exec producing Beyond, a one-hour drama pilot for ABC Family.
The show was created by Adam Nussdorf (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland) and follows a man who wakes up from a 12-year coma to discover he has supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a conspiracy.
It will be produced for the US cable net by Imperative Entertainment, the prodco created last year by Kring (pictured), Zak Kadison and Bradley Thomas.
Separately, ABC Family has ordered a pilot of Gorgeous Morons. The half-hour comedy follows two handsome but stupid brothers, one of whom is a model and the other a personal trainer, who move in with a brainy new roommate, a plain-looking female literature PhD.
ABC Signature Studios is producing and writers from the US version of The Office, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, created the show. Another Office writer, Danny Chun is penning the pilot.
“Quality comedies and epic adventures are key elements of our programming strategy,” said Karey Burke, executive VP, programming and development at ABC Family. “The teams behind these pilots have a history of creating amazing series in those genres, and I am thrilled to have them creating for ABC Family.”
