Colin Callender’s Playground adds another UK exec
Playground Entertainment, the fast-growing prodco run by former HBO programming chief Colin Callender, has hired another UK exec as it staffs up its London office, with Tom Leggett joining as director of development.
Leggett (left) joins from Channel 4’s UK digital movie service, Film4. He will work with broadcasters and talent as the Wolf Hall producer looks to get more drama away in the UK.
Leggett’s Film4 credits include ‘71, The Riot Club and Mr. Turner. Prior to Channel 4 he was at at Element Pictures and The Weinstein Company.
He will work in Playground’s London office alongside former All3Media International boss Louise Pedersen, who joined the prodco as managing director last year.
She said: “The boundaries between film and television are becoming more and more blurred and Tom’s deep ties to the film community will be a dynamic addition to our creative team.”
“I am thrilled to be joining Playground,” added Leggett. “It is a company defined by impeccable taste, international ambition and a firm commitment to working with the most exciting storytellers out there.”
He is the second Channel 4 exec to join Playground after the channel’s commissioning editor, drama, Sophie Gardiner, became creative director last November.
