AMC lands in Latin America
AMC Networks International is taking its flagship channel brand to Latin American pay TV.
A deal with DirecTV Latin America brings the AMC network to seven Spanish-speaking countries, namely Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
AMC launches this month and will offer shows such as recent drama Halt & Catch Fire, plus movies from MGM, Paramount and Sony Pictures.
AMC has launched on pay TV platforms throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East recently, as AMCNI extends its reach after acquiring the MGM channel in October 2013 and rebranding it last year.
“This new agreement will allow us build upon this success, growing the AMC brand internationally and creating a far-reaching platform for our original content,” said AMCNI’s executive VP, global distribution, Ed Palluth.
