UKTV’s Drama calls on Pinkertons
UKTV-owned channel Drama has acquired Zodiak Rights-sold drama The Pinkertons as its first exclusive US acquisition.
The 22x60mins action-adventure crime drama will air in the UK later this year following the agreement. Set in the American ‘Wild West’ in the 1860s, it follows real cases of Allan Pinkerton’s National Detective Agency.
Canadian prodcos Rosetta Media and Buffalo Gal Pictures produced the Alpine Labs-created show, which debuted via first-run syndication in the US.
Drama, which launched in 2013, said it had broken through the 1% share mark 23 times last year, spurring a push into first-run acquisitions.
“The Pinkertons is the perfect fit for the channel as we move forward in looking for brand new and exclusive dramas to broaden the channel’s portfolio of content,” said Emma Sparks, UKTV’s acquisitions and coproductions manager.
Zodiak Rights launched The Pinkertons at MIPCOM in October last year.
