NBC straps in for Apocalypse Slough

US broadcaster NBC is on board Sky1’s upcoming end-of-times comedy-drama Apocalypse Slough.

NBC involvement as a co-commissioner came in a Sky1 announcement that revealed US stars Rob Lowe (The West Wing), Jenna Fischer (The American Office) and Megan Mullaley (Will and Grace) were among the leads cast.

The 10x60mins series comes from NBCU-owned Working Title TV and British indie Bigballs Films, with filming commencing this month ahead of a launch in the UK later this year.

Apocalypse Slough follows a misfit group of people seeking to make it to an underground bunker in Slough, a town close to West London, in the days before a massive comet hits Earth and wipes out mankind.

NBC stablemate NBCUniversal International Television Distribution sells the show globally.
