BBC orders second period courtroom drama
UK pubcaster has ordered The Woman in Red, a new factual drama with Game of Thrones and Hunger Games star Natalie Dormer in the lead role.
She will play Lady Worsley, who finds herself on trial after she leaves her powerful husband Sir Richard Worsley. The drama is based upon the Hallie Rubenhold book Lady Worsley’s Whim.
The period courtroom drama will go out on BBC Two in the UK. Warner Bros.-owned Wall to Wall is producing the 1x90mins drama.
The drama was commissioned by Maxine Watson, BBC Commissioning editor documentaries and Lucy Richer, BBC Commissioning editor drama.
It is the second period courtroom drama based on real-life events commissioned by BBC Two recently. The free-to-air channel has already greenlit, The Eichmann Show, a 90-minute drama about the trial of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann.
