Benbow named acting BBC Children’s boss
Kay Benbow has been named acting director of BBC Children’s.
The CBeebies controller will take over the duties Joe Godwin left open when he accepted the post of head of BBC Academy, the training arm of the UK pubcaster.
She will combine the BBC Children’s duties, in which she will work closely with CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor, with her CBeebies boss role.
A search for Godwin’s permanent successor has begun. This person will be responsible for BBC Children’s slate of programming, channels and websites, based out of Salford, Manchester.
Benbow first worked for the BBC in1988, and was named as head of CBeebies production, animation and acquisitions in 2006. Four years later she took on channel controller duties at CBeebies.
Her previous boss, Godwin, oversaw BBC Children’s move to Salford.
