Big Eat is Scripps EMEA’s largest bet yet
Scripps Networks UK & EMEA has commissioned its largest original to date in the shape of contemporary kitchen series The Big Eat for Food Network.
Scripps Network International’s London-based team has been ramping up its local commissioning strategy in recent years, and the 40x30mins Big Eat represents its biggest bet yet.
Produced by Sweet TV, the show will be set in a newly-created Food Network kitchen and see presenters whip up three recipes a show alongside bakers, chefs and cooks.
“The Big Eat is testament to the rapid growth that we have experienced across UK & EMEA,” said Nick Thorogood, senior VP, content and marketing, Scripps Networks UK & EMEA. “With our vast array of new commissions and the best mix of local and library content, we are confident that we have engaging channels that are locally balanced for differing audience needs.”
Thorogood (pictured) commissioned the show along with Gareth Williams, VP, commissioning, Scripps Networks UK & EMEA.
Sarah Freethy and Nicky Davies from UK indie Sweet TV will executive produce the series.
Scripps Networks UK & EMEA’s other commissions include Siba’s Table, which became the first original sold back to the US Scripps cable channels business.
