Amazon tries out Netflix model with Transparent
Amazon has launched all episodes of its new original series Transparent simultaneously and across its international footprint.
The retail giant had been launching its Prime Instant Video originals in batches, eschewing the model successfully pioneered by Netflix of making all episodes available at once.
It had also made its first wave of original series available in the US before releasing them on its international services in the UK and Ireland and Germany.
However, it has launched all ten episodes of Transparent today in the UK, US and Germany.
Transparent follows a dysfunctional LA family, the Pfeffermans. It was created by Jill Soloway(Six Feet Under) and stars Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), Judith Light (Dallas) and Gaby Hoffman (Girls).
“I could not be more excited to share Transparent with the world today,” said Soloway. “In many ways, the Pfefferman’s story is one I’ve wanted to tell for many years and I’m so grateful to Amazon and my incredibly talented cast and crew for allowing me to fulfill this creative dream.”
