MIPCancun buyer line-up takes shape
Around 40 buyers from across Latin America have committed to Reed MIDEM’s new event, MIPCancun.
Those confirmed to attend include Argentina’s Construir TV, Encuentro Channel, Fox Latin American Channels and TELEFE, Unitel TV from Bolivia and Brazil’s TV Bandeirantes, Encripta, RedeTV and Telecine.
Mexican networks set for the event are Cadena Tres, Canal 22, TV Azteca, Televisa, TVUNAM, Claro TV and Peliculas En Pantalla.
The others are Canada’s Teletatino Network, Novazul Entertainment from the Dominican Republic, RTVEcuador and compatriot Telerama, RCN Television from Colombia, Medcom Panama, Panamericana Television from Peru, and Uruguay’s TNU, Monte Carlo TV and Saeta – Canal 10.
Confirmed distributors include the UK’s Cineflix Rights and FremantleMedia, Shoreline Entertanment and Splash Entertainment from the US, Germany’s Global Screen, France’s Arte, YLE from Finland and Armoza Formats from Israel. Forty sales firms are expected in total.
“Reaction to the inaugural MIPCancun has been excellent and confirms the growing importance of the Latin American television market,” said Laurine Garaude, director of Reed MIDEM’s television division.
“The format, where buyers and sellers sit down face-to-face, at pre-arranged meetings and are guaranteed full schedules, has proved extremely popular. It gives buyers, some of whom may not attend MIPTV or MIPCOM, access to international distributors, while providing sales companies with the chance to concentrate their efforts on the Latin American market.”
The market will launch this year, running from 19-21 November at the JW Marriott in Cancun, Mexico.
