Nordic World opens up shop in NY, eastern Europe
Nordic World has opened offices in New York and Budapest as part of an ongoing drive to expand beyond its Nordic base.
The distributor, set up by TV2 Norway and TV4 Sweden in 2005 and run by Espen Huseby (pictured) and Jan Salling, now has bases in eastern Europe and the US as well as Oslo, Copenhagen and Amsterdam. It also plans to open an office servicing the UK and Ireland.
Paulina Eklund, director of sales and acquisitions for North America, Latin America and Africa, will run the NY office.
Emese Acs, director of sales and acquisitions for CEE, CIS, the German-speaking territories, will oversee the Budapest operation. She was formerly a format sales manager at Absolutely, the Amsterdam-based distributor that Nordic World acquired earlier this year.
Nordic World said it aims to build an international network of satellite operations and creative alliances across northern Europe and North America, with a focus on the English-speaking markets.
CEO Huseby said the new sales hubs were a significant step towards fulfilling Nordic World’s ambition of becoming “the distributor of choice for the world’s most creative third-party producers, rights-owners and broadcast platforms”.
Nordic World has also started, this year, inking first-look deals with indie producers as part of its expansion plans. So far it has linked with producers in the UK, Sweden and Denmark.
