Pluto.tv launches on Amazon Fire TV

Online video content aggregator Pluto.tv has launched its first native streaming TV box app on the Amazon Fire platform.

The app is free to download from the Amazon Appstore. Pluto.tv launched in March with backing from Queensbridge Ventures, Jeremy Zimmer, the CEO of United Talent Agency and Omnicom Digital CEO Jonathan Nelson among others.

The service, which already supports the Google Chromecast platform, curates web video channels via a TV-like interface.

Pluto.tv currently offers about 100 channels of video content culled from the likes of YouTube, Vevo and other sites. The service offers users the ability to favourite channels but does not include a personalization algorithm that tailors content to viewers individual preferences.

Channels are arranged by categories such as music, sports, comedy and kids, with content chosen by editorial staff.

In addition to Amazon Fire and Chromecast, the service is also available on the Android and iOS platforms and on the web.
