Yesterday looks back to CNN’s Sixties
UKTV has acquired The Sixties, the documentary series looking at the events of the landmark decade and exec-produced by Tom Hanks.
The series was produced by CNN as the news and current affairs channel moves more heavily into factual programming. FremantleMedia has international rights and struck the UKTV deal.
Digital channel operator UKTV will launch The Sixties on its factual channel Yesterday in the coming weeks. The 10x60mins series examines key events of the titular decade including the rise of the Berlin Wall, the Cold War and the space race.
Adrian Wills ordered the new series and the deal was negotiated by UKTV’s acquisitions and coproduction manager Emma Sparks.
Wills said: “The Sixties is a production of broad scope and tremendous ambition, with amazing rarely or unseen footage which is brilliantly put together. This series is a perfect fit for Yesterday’s proposition; fascinating factual stories.”
